Fulwave Monitor release notes
What changed in each version, newest first.
Current version 1.5.1 · Last updated November 2026
Version 1.5.1
October 27, 2026
Steadier audio between two devices
- When the input and output are different devices, their clocks are now matched at the best quality macOS offers, so long listens (a film over SDI) stay clean.
- New Resync button next to Stop: if two devices ever start to sound jittery, it rebuilds the join between them in a moment without stopping.
- A matrix resyncs by itself when one of its devices changes sample rate or clock source or is unplugged, and when a Blackmagic input's signal changes format, is lost or comes back.

JumpDock
- Control Fulwave Monitor from JumpDock 2.5's menu bar: click to mute Main, swipe to move its master, right-click for every matrix's master and the eight Control-window pads. TalkBack and any matrix can have menu bar icons of their own.
- The app now tells JumpDock about the open session as it changes, so its icons and menus show mutes, dims, levels and lit pads as they are.

TalkBack
- Every session has a TalkBack router for talking to performers: its own mic input, output, grid, processing and presets, silent until you talk.
- Talk from purple TalkBack pads in the Control window: a click latches, holding talks only while held. Any number can be on at once.
- Each TalkBack preset can dim Main while you talk, and other matrices can be dimmed too (Dimmed by TalkBack).
Fulwave Monitor Pro
- Named matrices: add routers (always on, like Main) and cue matrices (silent until a pad switches one of their presets on, Summed or Switched), each with its own devices, color and presets. Import another session's main matrix, export a matrix, or open any matrix in its own window (double-click its tab).
- Audio Unit plugins in every channel's chain: up to eight effects per channel, stereo on ganged pairs, saved in presets.
- Blackmagic UltraStudio and DeckLink devices pass audio: the app turns their video on while a matrix uses them (needs Blackmagic's Desktop Video).
- Pro comes in sizes by how many Macs share one key, with upgrade prices from the standard license and between sizes.
- Try Pro for 30 minutes, once each launch, from Preferences or the + menu by the matrix tabs. On the demo, audio still stops every 15 minutes.
Matrices together
- Tie any matrix to Main: its master follows Monitor mode and moves with Main's master, and it can be muted, dimmed and sent to its own Ref level with Main. Each choice is saved with the session.
- Other matrices' masters can have their own faders in the Control window, beside Main's, in the order of the tabs.
- Drag the matrix tabs into the order you want. The tab strip scrolls when there are many.
- Lock Monitor mode for the session (right-click MONITOR), so it can't be switched off by accident.
Virtual audio devices
- Four free loopback devices (Fulwave In 16, Fulwave Out 16, Fulwave TalkBack Out and In), installed from Preferences, to send audio between other apps and Fulwave Monitor.
Control and shortcuts
fulwavemonitor://links let JumpDock, scripts and other apps play pads, switch TalkBack and cue presets, and set Main's master, Mute, Dim and Bypass.- Mute, Dim, preset recall and Bypass all FX no longer have fixed keys; set your own in Preferences ▸ Mixing ▸ Shortcuts…. TalkBack pad keys can be push-to-talk.
- Compact Control pads show preset names on two lines.
Processing
- Every block has a power button that bypasses it and keeps its settings, switching without a click.
Also
- File ▸ Open Recent.
- Close Session closes the main window.
- The grid uses spare window width for longer meters, and the main window remembers its size when you switch between large and small matrices.
Version 1.3.1
October 21, 2026
Fixes
- Fixed a crash when the compact Control window switched back to full size: from a Dock or JumpDock click set to open the Control window, the Window menu, ⌥⌘9 or the window's own full-size button.
Version 1.3
October 21, 2026
Appearance
- New Classic appearance: the light controls on a gray halfway between the system's light and dark.
Control window
- Keep on top and a new All Spaces option (follow you to every desktop and over full-screen apps) in the Control window and in Preferences.
- Clicking the app's Dock or JumpDock icon can open the main window, the Control window or the compact Control window. The Dock menu lists the same.
Startup
- Optionally open Fulwave Monitor at login, and start audio processing when the app opens. If a device from last time or saved with the session is missing, it asks instead of starting.
Preferences
- Reorganized into General, Appearance, Mixing and Meters tabs.
Version 1.2
October 20, 2026
Master
- Ref button: jumps the master to a reference level and back. The level is set from the menu beside it and saved with the session.
- Monitor mode: the master becomes a live level over whichever preset is loaded. Switching presets leaves it alone, and moving it never marks the preset as changed. A Monitor button is in the master bar and both Control windows.
- Mute and Dim are live controls and no longer count as a preset edit. The Dim amount is saved once per session file.
- The master slider, fader, knob and readout show their state in color: red muted, orange dimmed, green at Ref.
Keyboard
- Programmable shortcuts (Preferences ▸ Shortcuts…) for preset pads 1–8, master volume up and down by 0.5 or 3 dB and to 0 dB, Mute, Dim, Ref, Monitor mode and Bypass all FX. Optionally they work while another app is in front.
Interface
- The Control windows keep their proportions when resized, so no empty space appears, and the compact window text stays sharp at any size.
- Mute, Dim, Ref and Monitor use the same buttons in the main window and the Control windows.
- The main window's master bar adapts to a narrow window, the session row no longer wraps, and the preset buttons no longer shift the row when a preset changes.
- Spare width now widens the matrix as well as lengthening the meters.
Version 1.1.2
October 19, 2026
Updates
- Fulwave Monitor now checks fulwave.com for a newer version a few seconds after launch, at most once a day, and offers a download link. Check by hand with Fulwave Monitor ▸ Check for Updates…, or turn the automatic check off in Preferences. Only the app name and version number are sent.
Version 1.1.1
October 19, 2026
Interface
- The routing grid now uses a wide window well: spare width makes the channel meters longer and the crosspoint cells wider, instead of leaving empty margins.
- The main window can no longer be dragged larger than the grid can use, so a small matrix doesn't float in empty space.
- Channel rows are trimmed to their content, removing the extra space to the right of the link buttons.
Version 1.1
October 9, 2026
Routing
- Lock Crosspoints (master bar, Master menu, ⌥⌘L) freezes the grid so no level or master assignment changes by accident. It is saved with the session; master level, mute and dim still work.
Presets and sessions
- Presets remember what they held when the session was loaded or last saved. A changed preset shows a •; Revert puts it back, and Save as New keeps your changes as a new preset and restores the original.
- Choose a session that opens at launch in Preferences (or File ▸ Use This Session at Launch).
- Closing with an adjusted preset names it in the save prompt; Save is the default.
HRTF Explorer
- Import EQ hints loads the suggested EQ from an HRTF Explorer alignment report into a channel's parametric EQ.
- Import Alignment Report to HRTF Channels applies that EQ to every ganged pair with a filter loaded and, optionally, each set's delay matched by name. One undo step.
- An orange triangle on a channel's FX button warns when its HRTF filter was designed for a different sample rate.
Version 1.0
October 8, 2026
The first public release. Requires macOS 14 or later. Apple silicon and Intel. Signed and notarized by Apple.
Routing
- A crosspoint matrix of up to 64 inputs by 64 outputs, with a gain at every crosspoint. Type a level (double-click, Return, or just start typing), drag, or scroll. Right-click a crosspoint to switch it off and on; it returns to the level it had.
- The grid follows your devices by default (a 12-in / 8-out interface gives a 12 × 8 grid), or set the size by hand.
- Different input and output devices work together; the app joins them with a private aggregate device while running.
- Mute and solo on every channel. Stereo gangs make adjacent channels act as a pair.
- One master control for any crosspoints you assign, with Mute and Dim.
Processing
- Every input and output channel (or ganged pair) has its own chain: high pass, parametric EQ with shelves, AGC/compressor, delay, HRTF Explorer IIR filter (stereo pairs), low pass and trim.
- Reorder the blocks by dragging or with the arrows; set one order for every channel from the session bar.
- Copy processing to other channels, either a whole channel including its order and bypass or a single block, with undo and redo.
- Bypass per channel or for everything at once. Switching is click-free and the filters stay warm.
Presets and sessions
- Unlimited presets per session for quick auditioning, recalled from a menu, the keyboard (⌥⌘1–9) or the eight pads in the Control window.
- Sessions are .fwm files you can save, reopen and double-click in Finder.
Metering and control
- Four meter styles (peak, peak with hold, RMS, and true peak) with clip lights, adjustable range and refresh rate.
- A detachable Control window with the master fader, Mute, Dim and the preset pads, with a compact version.
- Volume and mute for the chosen audio devices, in step with the Sound settings.
- Light, dark, or match the system.
Demo and license
- Fulwave Monitor is free to try. Without a license it stops processing audio every 15 minutes and you press Start to continue. Buy a license, enter the key in Preferences, and the limit is gone at once.
